The latest report from the MoLISA on the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses shows that as of February 7, 2025, 58 localities have established provincial Steering Committees for this effort.

Meanwhile, five localities—Hanoi, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Vinh Phuc, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau—have not formed such committees as they no longer have any temporary or dilapidated houses.(Illustrative Image)

Additionally, 47 localities have issued regulations on the organization and operation of their provincial Steering Committees for this work. The remaining 10 localities that have yet to issue such regulations include Hoa Binh, Nam Dinh, Quang Tri, Binh Thuan, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Long An, Dong Thap, An Giang, and Bac Lieu.

To date, 31 localities have issued decisions approving the need to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in their areas. These provinces include Bac Lieu, Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Quang Binh, Ca Mau, Vinh Long, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Hau Giang, Tay Ninh, Bac Kan, Thai Nguyen, Soc Trang, Tuyen Quang, Binh Dinh, Phu Yen, Son La, Kon Tum, Ninh Thuan, Cao Bang, Khanh Hoa, Can Tho, Ha Nam, Thai Binh, Tra Vinh, Long An, Hai Duong, Lang Son, Yen Bai, Binh Thuan, and Quang Nam.

As of February 7, 2025, a total of 100,637 houses have been supported nationwide for elimination or reconstruction. Among them, 59,871 houses have been completed (an increase of 11,985 houses), and 40,766 new houses have started construction (an increase of 1,445 houses).

Specifically, housing support for people with meritorious service to the revolution accounts for 7,430 houses, an increase of 468 houses, including 3,384 completed houses and 4,046 newly initiated houses.

Housing support under two national target programs covers 52,117 houses, an increase of 7,338 houses. Of these, 33,114 houses have been completed, while construction has begun on 19,003 houses.

Directive No. 42/CT-TTg, issued by the Prime Minister on November 9, 2024, emphasizes the urgent need to accelerate efforts to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses nationwide.

In recent years, the Government and the Prime Minister have introduced various mechanisms and policies to support housing, particularly for people with meritorious service to the revolution, poor households, and near-poor households in rural, mountainous, and ethnic minority areas.

These policies have provided stable and safe housing for approximately 340,000 households of people with meritorious service and over 800,000 poor and near-poor households, enabling them to achieve sustainable poverty alleviation.

However, as of now, around 315,000 households across the country still face housing difficulties. These include people with meritorious service, beneficiaries of national target programs, and poor and near-poor households.

They require housing support to ensure safety and stability, allowing them to "settle down and thrive," focus on work and economic development, and gradually escape poverty, contributing to the goals of poverty eradication and social welfare enhancement.

The goal of Directive No. 42 is to complete three key tasks in 2025: Providing housing support for people with meritorious service; Supporting housing under national target programs; Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for those not covered under the first two groups./.
